Every time you enter a church the faded light brings holy peace to your heart. You relax and feel much easier as if all problems had stayed behind the door of the church. The marvelous light that comes through stained glass windows really makes us feel better. In 2011, the Republic of Palau issued the third coin in the Holy Windows series. Its colorful glass insert is a dedication to the amazing windows of St. Patrick's cathedral in New York. The limited mintage is only 999 pieces.
The composition of mints on St. Patrick's Cathedral New York is a bit unusual, as the glass insert is seen on both sides. The obverse has very delicate lines that represent the interior of the cathedral. Palau traditionally places its coat of arms on the obverse, and this coin is not an exclusion: the heraldic emblem is placed on the right side of the rhombus-shaped coin. The obverse also contains legends that explain the face value and the year of issue.
The reverse side of this shiny coin has the perfect glance of .925 silver and represents the neogothic look of the church. The unusual shape and glass insert make the overall image of this side really impressive. There are also two inscriptions minted on the reverse – one stands for the name of the cathedral, and the other reads the city where it is located. The bottom of this side also contains a small image of shamrock, which is the symbol most associated with St. Patrick, the patron of Ireland.
